Cheese or Chocolate fondue?

I received 2 fondue pots and I wanted to do chocolate in one and cheese in the other. Any cheese fondue recipes you'd care to share? And what's the best bread to use?Cheese or Chocolate fondue?
Use french bread cubes for dipping. Here's a traditional but easy recipe for cheese fondue:

CHEESE FONDUE

1 tbsp. butter

4 oz. Gruyere-Emmenthale cheese

1 c. dry white wine

1 tbsp. flour

Pinch of cayenne

Pinch of nutmeg

4 tbsp. kirsch

Melt together in a saucepan on the top of the stove. Rub inside of fondue pot with a cut clove of garlic, then transfer cheese mixture into it and keep heated.

Here's a chocolate fondue recipe:

CHOCOLATE FONDUE

1 c. sugar

3/4 c. unsweetened cocoa

1/3 c. water

1 c. milk

1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk

1/4 c. butter

1 tsp. vanilla

2 tbsp. liqueur (Creme de Menthe, Grand Marnier, Kahlua, etc)

Combine sugar and cocoa in heavy 3 quart saucepan, blend in water and stir in both milks and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until begins to boil. Remove from heat, add vanilla and liqueur, pour into fondue pot and use low Sterno flame to prevent scorching. Makes 3 1/4 cup sauce.

For dipping, use pieces of apple, pear, peach, banana, strawberries, pineapple chunks, marshmallows or pound cake. Arrange on serving platter.

dont forget teh strawberries to dip in teh choc.

sounds great - what time is dinner
A hard crusty bread along with veggies for the cheese fondue. Bargain Books has a lot of cook books on fondueing at resonable costs. That way you'd probably use it more to try out a lot of recipes.
i would make sure i had some fruit for the chocolate

and some veggies for the cheese

i dont know, but i have always wanted a fondue pot....good luck with it!
For a chocolate fondue, here are some great dippers:

Marshmallows, cherries (w/stems) pineapple chunks, oreos, Graham crackers, nutter butter, Frozen Pound cake, bananas, strawberries, blackberries or pretzels!

Don't forget a little heavy cream and a splash of liquor!
Make a basic white sauce in a saucepan on the stove. When finished transfer to your fondue pot and add as much or as little of shredded cheese as you like. You are pretty much free to do what you want...choose any cheese you like. Adding chopped chives or sliced green onion adds an additional 'yum factor'. Stir to combine and melt the cheese. Your fondue is ready to go.

This recipe is extremely simple and cheap to make...not to mention delicious. I would serve it with sourdough or something equally nice and crusty like french bread.

As far as chocolate goes...I have only ever broken up a large chocolate bar and added 2 tbsp. of butter and a dash of cinnamon to get it going in the pot. Oey goey and yummy.
Both are quite good.

Can you use a crock pot to make fondue?

absolutely, use velveeta, it soft and easy to melt (for a cheese dip),once melted you can add salsa to it, stir, enjoy

or a light chocolate with a little caramel(make sure everything is on low heat).best serve with slice pineapple yummyCan you use a crock pot to make fondue?

Fondue prices at the melting pot?

My boyfriend and I are big cheese lovers. Our 3 year anniversary is coming up and I wanted to treat him to some cheese or even chocolate fondue. I was wondering if anyone knew approx prices for the fondues only...Fondue prices at the melting pot?
Maybe if you make the fondue yourself he'll pop the question. It is easy to make fondue at home here are some recipes:

If you do just a cheese fondue (they consider it an appetizer) and just a choc fondue (dessert), you can probably get out of there for around $50-60, depending upon where you live. No alcohol or soft drinks, tho. To save money, drink water.

Their site says prices vary by location. Put your zipcode in on that page, and you can get an idea. Also, call and ask if they have specials you can take advantage of, or online or newspaper coupons.

Happy anniversary!
They are pretty expensive. When my dad and I went, it was about $80 for both of us. We got the cheese fondue, salads, meats, and the chocolate fondue though. They do give you a lot of food. Go to restaurants.com and buy a certificate. That will help.
I suggest seeing if you have a local fondue place. Ours is a million times better then meltign pot and a bit cheaper. For 2 you are looking at at least $80 there.

  • Good Fondue Recepies?

I got a fondue pot for x-mas (the real kind, not the tea light kind) and I am attending a pot luck x-mas party, anyone have some interesting fondue receipies, aside from the traditional cheese or chocolate?Good Fondue Recepies?
This has cheese, but it is easy and is a bit different. Simply Cheesy Crabby Dip. 1lb velveeta cheese, 1 lb. margerine or butter, 2 cans of crab meat (pretty cheap, you find it next to tuna), melt it together and serve it with breadsticks or French bread. It's really good.
Buffalo Chicken with Blue Cheese Fondue:

To keep the cheese creamy and smooth, stir the dippers in a figure-eight movement. A heavy enamel fondue pot helps prevent the cheese from burning on the bottom. Wing sauce can be found with other hot sauces in the condiment section of your grocery store.

    Dippers:

4 (4-ounce) skinned, boned chicken breast halves

    Cooking spray

1/4 cup bottled wing sauce (such as Crystal), divided

2 cups green beans, trimmed (about 8 ounces)

    2 cups (3 x 1/2-inch) carrot sticks

    2 cups (3-inch) celery sticks

2 cups red bell pepper strips

12 ounces French bread, toasted and cut into 1-inch cubes

    Fondue:

2 cups (8 ounces) crumbled blue cheese

    1 tablespoon cornstarch

    1 cup dry white wine

    2/3 cup 1% low-fat milk

    1 (8-ounce) block fat-free cream cheese, softened

    Preheat oven to 400掳.

To prepare dippers, place each chicken breast half between 2 sheets of heavy-duty plastic wrap, and flatten to a 1/2-inch thickness using a meat mallet or rolling pin. Place the chicken on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Brush with 2 tablespoons wing sauce. Bake at 400掳 for 5 minutes. Turn chicken over, and brush with 2 tablespoons wing sauce. Bake an additional 5 minutes or until done. Cut chicken into 1-inch pieces.

Cook the beans in boiling water for 1 minute or until crisp-tender; drain. Rinse with cold water; drain well. Place beans on a platter with carrot, celery, bell pepper, and bread; set aside.

To prepare the fondue, combine the blue cheese and the cornstarch in a large saucepan. Stir in wine, milk, and cream cheese. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to medium-low; cook 8 minutes or until mixture is smooth, stirring frequently. Pour into a fondue pot. Keep warm over low flame. Serve with dippers.

Yield: 8 servings (serving size: 1 1/2 ounces chicken, 1/4 cup beans, 1/4 cup carrots, 1/4 cup celery, 1/4 cup bell pepper, 1 1/2 ounces bread, and about 1/3 cup fondue)Good Fondue Recepies?
I once filled my fondue pot with Swedish meatballs - it was emptied in minutes. Pot luck, hm...sounds like it may be a buffet style evening? Nothing too saucy or difficult to get onto a plate. You could do something layered, like an English trifle (sp?). The only other fondue recipes I know either involve broth (fondue Chinois) or frying (fondue Bourguignon). Enjoy!

Not called fondue (tempura) but if you have a good pot it will work.

Cut up small pieces of beef, pork and chicken. Then

supply small mushrooms, zuchini cubes, onion cubes,

Heat 1/4 of fondue pot full of oil. Peanut is best as it does not smoke and adds flavor.Supply long forks

and deep fry all. For a change, supply beer batter to coat. Supply various dipping sauces.
Put oil in the pot and fry cubes of steak then roll them in sour cream and dip it in chopped nuts. I know it sounds odd, but I had it at a friend's house and it was yummy!

Fondue refers to several French Swiss communal dishes shared at the table in an earthenware pot ("caquelon") over a small burner ("rechaud"). The term "fondue" comes from the French "fondre" ("to melt"), referring to the fact that the contents of the pot are kept in a liquid state so that diners can use forks to dip into the sauce. The sauce is usually warmed either by a separate buner containing an alcohol-based fuel or simply by tealights. Though cheese fondues are the best known kind, there are several other possibilities for the contents of the pot and what is used for dipping.

As with other communal dishes, fondue has etiquette standards ranging from practical to amusing. Some people consider it rude to allow one's lips or tongue to touch the fondue fork, and with meat fondues one should use a dinner fork to remove the meat from the dipping utensil. The "no double-dipping" rule applies here as well, once a taste has been taken of a dipped morsel it should not be returned to the pot. If the bread or fruit is lost in the cheese or chocolate, it is tradition for that person to buy a round of drinks or to be punished in another way.

Fondue is a food that became very popular in the 1970s. Fondue was said to be invented for the purpose of using up old cheese and dry bread. The Swiss also found fondue convenient because of the freezing winters and the scarce amount of fresh food. Having fondue helped the Swiss people have a meal when they couldn鈥檛 go out and get fresh food.

You may cook with the traditional Gruyere Cheese, Emmental Cheese, Garlic, and Kirch, and you may also put some peeled shrimps so the Guest can cook the shrimps inside the fondue, it is very tasty... and of course you use the bread.
Traditional fondue is made with a combination of Emmentaler and Le Gruyere. The items used for dipping have become much more creative. The traditional dipper has always been cubes of crusty Italian or French bread.

    Traditional Swiss Cheese Fondue

    1 lb grated Emmentaller

    1 lb grated Le Gruyere

3 cloves garlic put through garlic press

    3.75 cups dry white wine

    1/4 cup heavy cream

2 tbsp kirsch or lemon juice (Kirsch is traditional)

    3 tbsp corn starch

    pepper and nutmeg to taste

2 loaves Italian or French bread cut into 1" cubes with crust on one side

    PREPARATION:

Combine Emmentaler and Le Gruyere and sprinkle with corn starch (this can be done in a plastic bag). In a stick free pan slowly melt the cheese in the wine with the heavy cream - put the cloves of garlic through the press into the wine cheese mass.

Rub inside of fondue pot with a cut garlic clove.

Turn heat to medium heat until warm, not boiling!

    Add Kirsch or lemon juice.

We serve this with generous salads, small boiled potatoes, tiny dill gherkins and glasses of crisp cold white wine.
I got one for Christmas too and need to know some healthy recipes because I don't think chocolate and cheese are too healthy
Not doing cheese or chocolate kinda limits your options, unless you wanted to do more meal like items and cook meats, fish or seafood in oil. But that can get kind of expensive.

You can do a tomato based fondue and dip hard breads, cheeses (mozzerella, provolone), small meatballs, zuchini slices, bell peppers, even cooked pasta - something larger like rigatoni, tortelini, gnochi, ravioli, shells or rotini that hold the sauce better - kinda wouldn't want to use spaghetti :). Add some grated cheese to the sauce. Growing up, my mother used to make her "gravy" (it's called gravy in our house, never tomato sauce) in a huge pot and it would simmer on the stove all day - whenever we could sneak in, we'd grab a piece of bread and dunk it in the pot. It was llike a giant fondue pot to us.

You could also do a hot black bean and cheese dip and serve little rounds of bread or tortilla shells cut into small pieces with various toppings on the side - chopped tomatoes, chives, sour cream, etc.

You could also try potato wedges/skins as a dipper for a fondue version of the potato skins appetizer. Do cheese with bacon bits and chives in it with a side of sour cream.

They actually say that if you're doing chocolate, the tea light kind is better than the expensive pots - they evidently get too hot and can scorch the chocolate. But, if you're looking for a dessert, you can always up the chocolate experience by adding caramel and/or chopped nuts to the mix - very delicious. Or bits of candy, like butter finger, fifth avenue, or my fave- heath bars - you need to make sure that if you're adding nuts or candy that you chop them into tiny pieces, larger pieces are likely to slide right off the item being dipped when removed from the pot. You can always throw the candy into a food processor and pulse for a few seconds. If you do this with refrigerated or frozen candy, you'll get nice chopped bits without fear of them turning into mush. You can also add liquers to the chocolate for a little kick.

If you had more than one pot, I'd suggest doing several different versions - white chocolate with chopped up candy canes, milk chocolate with caramel and peanuts and dark chocolate with heath bits. If you don't want to add the nuts or candies to the chocolate, consider putting chopped bits into shallow bowls or plates and people can choose what to add without limiting them to your one chosen concoction.

As for what to dip, other than the obvious - pound cake, bananas and strawberries, etc. - try marshmallows, butter cookies, pecan sandies, small pretzel rods - make small graham cracker and marshmallow fluff sandwiches to be dipped for a s'more like dipper. Coconut macaroons, biscotti, Take a walk down the snack and cookie aisle and get inspired.

And since this is a pot luck party, I'm not sure what will be supplied, so you might want to consider bringing a nice supply of desert/cocktail sized napkins - people will need something to hold under the their creation to keep drips from getting all over the hosts house.

Below is a link to the Food Network's Fondues and Dont's. Interesting. The second link is a great article of things you NEED to know for a successful fondue experience.
Heat peanut oit (higher temperature) and use it to cook bits of steak, chicken and veggies in oil. It is very good and a kind of slow dinner. Add the cheese pot for a dip in the cheese as well.

    Chicken Cordon Bleu Fondue

8 thin-sliced skinless, boneless chicken breast cutlets (about 1 1/2 pounds)

12 slices from a package of sliced Swiss cheese, 4 slices torn into pieces (about 1/2 pound total)

4 slices from a package of deli-style ham

    1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

    1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

    4 tablespoons unsalted butter

    1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil

3 tablespoons dry vermouth or white wine (optional)

1 cup heavy cream or whole milk

    1. On a work surface, make sandwiches using 2 of the chicken breast cutlets for each: layer 1 of the cutlets, a slice of Swiss cheese and a slice of ham, then another slice of cheese and a slice of chicken. Fasten the sandwiches in the center with a toothpick.

    2. On a plate, mix the 1/2 cup of flour with the paprika and season with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper. Dredge a sandwich in the flour to coat lightly on both sides, shaking off any excess. Repeat with the remaining sandwiches.

    3. In a 12-inch skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of the butter in the olive oil and cook the sandwiches over medium-high heat until cooked through and golden, turning once, about 3 minutes per side.

    4. Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Whisk in the remaining 2 tablespoons of flour until smooth. Whisk in the vermouth and cook for 1 minute (optional). Slowly whisk in the heavy cream and cook, stirring continuously, until the sauce comes to a soft boil and thickens, about 5 minutes. Stir in the torn up Swiss cheese and cook over low heat, stirring continuously, until the cheese is melted, 2 to 3 minutes. Season the sauce with salt and pepper and serve the fondue-style sauce in small bowls alongside the chicken.

I agree. You don't want to repeat the traditional again and again. The best thing I think you could do is be different. Try different things. Look up other recipes on the web. Try the web site www.ask.com when you get there type what you want and they will give it to you. That's my favorite web site.
Cut beef tenderloin or filet mignon into cubes and use vegetable oil in the fondue pot. A small piece of bread in the pot I heard can absorb water and cut down on spattering but that is optional. Apply sauce of choice to beef after cooking, something like a russian dressing maybe.
At my company's Christmas Party, they had white (milk too, but white was better) chocolate fondue with marshmellows, rice crispy treats, those mini bananas, and strawberries. It was delicious! Watch out though, it's so good you will probably overindulge. I bet theres quite a bit that would go well with white chocolate; like graham crackers, or maybe make little graham cracker %26amp; peanut butter sandwiches. Small bread items go well, but I think it is best to stay away from over-sweet things, since the white chocolate itself is very sweet. If you do rice crispy treats, make them small. Marshmellows were my favorite.

Transfer fondue to warm fondue pot.

In a large skillet, bring 2-inches of water to a boil and blanch the cauliflower for 2 to 3 minutes, drain and arrange around the fondue pot.

    Smokey german fondue recipe

cubes of rye bread, to serve

Rub the inside of the fondue pot with the cut side of the onion. Pour in the ale

and heat gently until bubbling. Reduce the heat and gradually stir in the grated

cheeses, then continue to stir while they melt, stirring frequently.

In a small bowl, blaend the cornflour smoothly with the milk. then stir into the

cheese mixture with the mustard and continue to cook for a couple of minutes until

thick and creamy. Serve with the bread cubes.

    Cheese Fondue Recipe

    1/2 pound Gruyere cheese, grated

    1/2 pound Emmentaler cheese, grated

    2 tablespoons cornstarch

    1 cup dry white wine

    2 tablespoons kirsch

    salt and pepper, to taste

    1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

crusty French bread, cut into 1" cubes

nice size pieces of cooked vegetables (broccoli, pearl onions, potatoes, carrots)

Toss the cheeses with the cornstarch and set aside. Rub a saucepan with the garlic, pour in the wine or milk, and heat over low heat until it just simmers. Add the cheese gradually and stir constantly until melted. Add the kirsch, if using, and the seasonings. Stir until mixture is blended and smooth. Keep warm but do not boil. When you are ready to serve, transfer mixture to a fondue pot. Serves 6

Notes: This can look like its too thick but you need to test it with the bread. If you get a good coating of cheese leave it alone. But if it's too hard to swirl the chunk of bread through then add a little more liquid. Also, when the bread is cut into chunks try to leave a little crust on each piece. The crust helps it stay on the fork.

To do this in the CP, I would do all the top of stove instructions on 'High', then instead of transferring to a fondue pot serve it on the table in the CP on 'Low' setting to keep warm.

This is the best cheese fondue, reminds me of the one they make at The Melting Pot.

Best way to do meat fondue?

I want to do a meat fondue with chicken, steak, and shrimp. What do you put in the fondue pot- I've heard you can use chicken broth. So can I just buy some cans of chicken broth and and dump it in the pot? Do you add water or anything? Tips please!Best way to do meat fondue?
    Interesting... I've always done MY beef-fondue with veggie-oil !!

I'll have to try this with broth... though the cooking time would be annoying.
Yes you can do it with chicken broth. Some people do it to with wine. My favorite though is with oil. It give a great taste to the meat even though it's not light. Not sure about it though if you have shrimp. So I would stick with the broth. You can shred some veggies and stir it in the broth to give extra flavor.

Don't forget the sauce now to enjoy your meat with :o)

Yes - I've done it with the seasoned chicken broth and it worked great. No water needed. I'm sure you could do it with plain broth too, but the extra seasonings were nice.

You can also use wine, and I'm sure there are recipes online, but the broth is just fine.

Can two different chocolate fondues stay seperated in the same pot?

Anyone whose been to the Melting Pot knows what I'm talking about... they have this delicious fondue that's dark chocolate on one side, white on the other, in a yinyang shape. So how do you keep the chocolates from mixing with each other? And does anyone have a good recipe for this kind of fondue? Can two different chocolate fondues stay seperated in the same pot?
If you were going to do this, I would recommend taking large, solid pieces of chocolate, the white and dark. Heat them at the same temp and DONT touch. This will allow them to melt, not touch each other, and not become mixed. This is hard to do b/c unless done over very low heat, there is a liklihood that the chocolate will burn.

    Home done fondue?

I got a fondue pot for V-day and want to use it this weekend. I have a 7 yr old and thought it would be fun for her. Any unusual fun recipes. Id like to do cheese and a main course with meat and veggies like at the melting pot. And choc at the end of course.Home done fondue?
    CHEESE FONDUE

1 clove garlic, cut in half

2 cuts light dry white wine (Riesling, Chablis)

    1/2 pound Swiss cheese, shredded

1/2 pound Swiss or Danish Gruyere, shredded

(you can use cheddar instead but it burns faster)

    1 tbsp cornstarch

    Nutmeg and pepper (optional)

    1 loaf french bread, cubed

    2-3 small red apples, cubed

Rub the fondue pot with the cut garlic. Add wine and heat slowly until bubbles form and slowly rise to the surface. Combine cheeses, cornstarch and mustard in a bowl. Slowly add this mixture to the heated wine, stirring continuously until all the cheese is melted and blended into a smooth sauce. Stir in other ingredients and bring to a slow boil (hot enough to keep the sauce bubbling slowly, but not so hot that the cheese separates.)

If fondue gets too thick, thin with heated wine.

this is a mediterranean/ tropical fondue

    1 lb. shelled shrimp

    juice of 1 lemon

    8 oz. Gruyere cheese

    2 pints chicken stock

    1/4 cup chopped dill

    pinch cayenne pepper

    1/2 tsp. pepper

    1/2 tsp. sugar

    2 onions

Sprinkle shrimp with lemon juice and leave 10 minutes. Peel and chop onions. Grate cheese. Pour stock into metal fondue and heat. Add grated cheese and stir over low heat until melted; do not boil. Remove from heat, stir in onions, dill, cayenne, sugar and pepper. Bring pan to table and place on spirit burner. Drain shrimp, pat dry. Spear on fondue forks, dip in to fondue for 1 minute, then eat.

    BEEF FONDUE

2 - 2 1/2 pound boneless beef sirloin or tenderloin

Melted butter and salad oil (equal amounts of each)

    Dipping sauce and butters

Cut the meat into bit-sized cubes. Pour the melted butter and salad oil into your fondue pot or electric frying pan to a depth of 1 1/2 to 2 inches. Heat just below the smoking point (about 425 degrees in an electric frying pan). you can spear a cube of meat with a fork and holds it in the heated butter-oil until cooked, about 1-2 minutes. When cooked, they dip the beef in one of the sauces.

I like to use Teriyaki ,or A1 sauces. But recently I found this recipe online.

Toasted Onion Butter:Combine 1 tsp toasted dried onions, 1/4 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce and 1/2 cup softened butter. Let stand several hours to blend flavors.

Blue Cheese Butter:Mix 1 package (4 oz.) blue cheese with 1/2 cup softened butter. Let stand several hours to blend flavors.

Mustard Butter:Mix 1/4 cup prepared mustard and 1/2 cup softened butter. Let stand to blend flavors.

    For dessert

    1 16 oz. pkg Nestle's Semi-sweet chocolate chips

    1 large Hershey's chocolate bar

Milk, heavy cream, OR flavored creamer

    Liquor (optional) such as Amaretto,

1 dozen plain cake donuts or pound cake, cubed

strawberries, bananas, marshmellow and rice cripies, and cheescake in cubes are good for dipping as well

In a sauce pan, melt the chocolate chips over a low heat. Add small squares of Hershey bar to to sweeten (to taste) and milk (or cream) in small amounts to keep consistency moist. Stir constantly to prevent chocolate sticking to bottom of pan.

Transfer melted chocolate to fondue pot and reduce heat so that chocolate stays liquid, but not bubbling. Cube dipping foods and arrange on trays around the fondue pot.Home done fondue?
This isn't what you are after but another thing you can do with your fondue pot is fill 3/4ths of the way full with chicken broth that has chives floating in it and have on the side cubes or slices of different kinds of meat (chicken, pork, beef) and fish (shrimp, scallops), veggies like pea pods, carrots sliced on the diagonal, broccoli, zucchini, etc. You put them into the broth to cook the way you want and when everyone has finished eating the goodies on the stick then you pour the broth into bowls and drink it. No waste at all.

    How to make fondue?

I dont ahve a fondue pot or w/e. I am having a picnic without any outlets..how do i keep the chocolate warm and not solidified? How to make fondue?
The only thing I can thing of is to set your pot over a lit candle or sit your pot over a heating pad turned on low. That will put out enough heat to keep the chocolate melted but not burned. It may be warm enough outside though that you may not need to use either of these. How to make fondue?
They make fondue pots that can be kept warm by some flame(candle). If you don't want to do that then you need to get a caterer's setup that consists of sterno, a metal pan and the wire frame that holds the pan. Put water in the metal pan, put the pot in it and light the sterno. Keeps warm without burning. If you have a camper's stove, use a double boiler and put the chocolate in the top pot and water in the bottom and set the flame very low.

How to do Fondue in a restaurant?

My family owns a restaurant, and we are thinking about starting up some fondue. I was wondering, what is the best way to do fondue in a restaurant. Whats the best way to prepare the cheese, or chocolate in a timely way? What sort of preparation is required? and also, what are the best kind of fondue pots? We were thinking ceramic tea light candle ones?

Any advice from someone with experience, or a chef please please help...Thanks a lot!How to do Fondue in a restaurant?
keep your cheese in a stainless steel water bath on a steam table over the lowest possible setting. it can be taken to the table in a fondue pot and placed on the brazier already warmHow to do Fondue in a restaurant?
I wouldn't use the tea-lights they take WAY too long to heat up. Good fondue usually involves two types of cheese paired with a good quality wine. You can serve it with bread, apples, carrots, %26amp; cauliflower.

Fancier fondue involves a boiling stock which you cook your own meats %26amp; veggies in. Go to local fondue joints %26amp; get advice from them, the ones in my town have burners on the table to heat the pot of cheese/stock.

What is the best brand of electric fondue pots?

I like the Cuisinart one because it heats a little more evenly than others I've had.

But consider looking for a small cast iron fondue pot. Rachel Ray, Cuisinart, and Le Creuset all make a version. Chocolate and Cheese is easier to clean out of the enamel, and cast iron heats so very evenly, the cheese doesn't separate and the chocolate doesn't burn in the middle like regular flame heated pots.

Not to mention the fact that you can use them on your stovetop to heat, then place it on the stand over a flame to keep the heat going.

What to use with fondue? :}?

I got a fondue pot thing for my birthday! I've never had fondue, but i've always wanted to. Im planning on using it with chocolate for my party saturday, but i have nooo clue what type of food to eat with it ( you know, dip into the chocolate) what should i get? What to use with fondue? :}?
Fruit, potato chips, pretzels, cut up pound cake mm
You have to be able to stab it with the little harpoon thing, and if it is melty...use a quick dipping motion. Also size, nothing smaller than an inch or so when prepared in a cube or ball. Other than that, really use your imagination.

You can use bananas, strawberries, mandarin oranges, cubes of pound cake, marshmallows (a large marshmellow is the PERFECT size for anything dipped in any fondue!), candy bar pieces (like fun size cut in half), hostess or little debbie pieces, brownie pieces, brach's caramels, oreo cakesters,

You can also make fondue out of cheese, use Emmenthaler Swiss for a creamy base, and flavor with other kinds of cheese. Use it to dip chunks of hearty bread like sourdough, or cubes of sausage, or apples, or vegetables. What to use with fondue? :}?
A variety of foods lend themselves to being dunked in warm melted chocolate and as long as they are cut into bite size bits you can go a bit crazy, a few of my favourite choices are: fresh fruits: strawberries, grapes, apples, bannanas, pineapple, figs, if your lucky enough to have fresh apricots they are fantastic, if not dried fruits are a great alternative. I also love to use whole macadamia nuts.

You can also use almond bread, marshmallows, jube lollies, or small cakes and sweet breads that are firm enough not to dissolve in the chocolate.

    I hope this helps.

    Sharon
    theres all kinds of things!!!

    You got your fruits...

    strawberries, banana, cherries..

then there are your dry products

pretzels (i prefer the pretzel sticks!), pieces that you rip off a hawaiin loaf bread (found at walmart in the bakery section) or french bread bits.

veggies? celery is good with peanut butter in it, and if you drizzle or dunk it in the fondue..heck yes.
    Marshmallows

Angel food cake cut in cubes

Chunks of fresh fruit- Melons, pineapple, berries are especially good for dipping.

    Pound cake cut into cubes.

    Pretzels (Large knots or rods)
strawberries, pineapple, bananas, pretzels, marshmallows, nutter butters.
    most fruit

    (strawberries, etc)

    pretzles

    cookies

not much else goes well with chocolate.

Melt chocolate fondue without a stove?

I have a ceramic chocolate fondue pot, the kind heated with a single tea-light. I am giving my boyfriend a surprise picnic for our anniversary, and won't be able to simply melt it on the stovetop first.

I won't go into a lot of detail, but will it be possible, do you think, to simply break up a few hunks of chocolate in the dish and count on them to melt properly? I can't make it in advance.

Thanks!Melt chocolate fondue without a stove?
The smaller the pieces of chocolate, the easier it will melt. It's also easy to melt in a microwave....it doesn't sound like that will work though.

    Good luck!
start off with chocolate chips, if not then break the choc. up into as small pieces as possible. put the bowl into a microwave oven and time for one minute. remove and stir. repeat with 45 sec. remove and stir, repeat with 30 seconds, remove and stir, when melted enough put over the fondue pot flame and melt to the desired consistency. you have to do this slowly or the choc. will surely burn.

THE SAN FRANCISCO CHEFMelt chocolate fondue without a stove?
it is going to take alot more heat than a tiny tea light will provide. You need one of those sterno cans that provide a good amount of heat for a long time in order to melt your chocolate. but yes breaking it up into smaller pieces will help it to melt better.

Canola is good if you do not want any oil flavor to interfere with the food you are fonduing. Otherwise, veg or olive (not extra virgin) oils will provide additional flavor - bumping it up a notch. In my opinion, the more layers of flavor the better!

i didn't use specific measurements. just threw in what i thought tasted good. it was a hit at my party. here's an estimate of what i put in.

    8 oz pepperjack cheese

    8 oz mexican cheese

    8 oz velveeta

Cook bread crumbs in milk until smooth. Add butter, cheese, salt and pepper. Cook one minute longer and remove from heat. Beat yolks of eggs and add to mixture. Fold in the stiffly beaten whites. Pour in buttered mold and bake 20 to 30 minutes.

I hear I'm supose to melt chocolate before putting it in the fondue pot. Can I just put the chocolate bar in the pot and it will just melt?I am having a fondue party, can I use Hershey bars?
You could put cream in the pot first and when that is really really hot, just drop in chopped Hershey bars.
You would not be happy with the results. I promise. Try this:

    Ingredients

8 ounces good dark chocolate, chopped (not below 60 percent cocoa, recommended: Valrhona)

    8 ounces heavy cream, scalded

    1 stick butter, room temperature

    Orange liqueur (recommended: Grand Marnier)

Marshmallows, strawberries, pound cake, dried apricot/mango/papaya, for serving

    Directions

Completely melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Add the cream to a medium bowl and pour in the chocolate. Whisk the mixture very slowly creating a shiny, elastic emulsion.

Whisk in the butter, then add the liqueur, to taste, until well combined.

Pour the mixture into a fondue pot. Dip your choice of bites into the fondue using fondue forks and enjoy!I am having a fondue party, can I use Hershey bars?
Melting just chocolate bars is a white-trash way of doing it...but it will burn on the bottom while the bars are still meltiing - and you won't be able to incorporate creme into it to make a proper chocolate sauce.

Recipes have instructions to heat over a double boiler for good reason, not to waste your time.
U can do it ofcourse, howver I agree the results might not be what ur looking for. The recipe given might be a great alternative, you know the texture and flavor will be good.

I am not sure that you can just order dessert. I guess it depends on where you live. You should definitely go for the full meal:) If not, I would guess dessert costs around $15 each.

No, not unless there is a way for you to control the temperature. A fondue pot designed for cooking meats get a lot hotter than a ceramic chocolate and/or cheese fondue pot.Meat fondue set can it be used for chocolate fondue?
As far as I know you can. We have a (ceramic) cheese fondue set that we use for chocolate all of the time, but I don't know if there are specific sets only for meat.

So for all of you who've been to the melting pot fondue restaurant.... what outfit do you think is appropriate?

AHHH i have no clue what to wear

So for all of you who've been to the melting pot fondue restaurant.... what outfit do you think is appropriate?
Get dressed up pretty! Nice cocktail dress, or dressy jeans or pants and a cute top. With cute shoes, not sneakers or flip-flops. And don't forget to accessorize!
Depends on what part of the country you are in. I have been to the Melting Pot in the L.A. area in California and it was very laid back (like everything in CA). And anything would have been appropriate for dress in that location.

I have also been to the Melting Pot in Appleton WI and they tend to dress a little nicer at that location.

Generally speaking, any chain restaurant in the US is not going to have a dress code, you can pretty much get away with anything. I think what you wear should really depend on the reason for the dinner. If it is a date with someone relatively new in your life, then by all means dress a little nicer. So for all of you who've been to the melting pot fondue restaurant.... what outfit do you think is appropriate?
Something nice. It doesn't have to be too fancy, but you will look funny if you just go in there in street clothes. It's a nice place and people generally get dressed up when they go there.
First of all, its one of my FAVORITE restaurants!! You will really love it! Usually when I go there, I wear a nice pair of slacks or jeans and a nice top.
Semi-dressy. You can even wear jeans (not grubby ones) If you wear a nice top, shoes and jewelry.
I wore a casual dress but you'll find people wearing jeans.

How to do fondue in a restaurant?

My family owns a restaurant and we are planning on serving fodue as appetizers and desserts. Does anybody have experience serving cheese and chocolate fondue in a restaurant? What are the best ways to keep the cheese and chocolate melted before they need to be served? Any other advice for this "venture" to be successful?

    Side note:

We will be using basic tea light fondue pots for now.

Thanks for your help! How to do fondue in a restaurant?
I'd suggest you eat at a fondue rstaurant and take notes on what would work (and what wouldn't work) for your own needs. One chain is called 'The Melting Pot." All fondues are made fresh; none sitting around waiting. Cheese and choc fondues are made at the table. You will need a diffuser under the chocolate, or even a tea light candle will scorch it.

    Find a location here: http://www.meltingpot.com/locations.aspx鈥?/a>
I actually saw something on tv a couple days go about a fondue restaurant. Sorry I don't rememeber the show or the restaurant.

To keep the cheese and chocolate warm and melted they use a double boiler. The water below was always on a slight simmer but not boiling. They also use white wine in the cheese sauce to keep it from being too stringy and sticky. How to do fondue in a restaurant?

    Fondue Bourguignonne

It is best to heat the oil on the stovetop before bringing the fondue pot to the table. The oil needs to reach a temperature of 375掳F.

    Ingredients:

1 Tbs. freshly grated or prepared horseradish

    Juice of 1 lemon

    Pinch of cayenne pepper

    1 cup sour cream

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

4 cups vegetable oil, such as canola or olive oil

3 lb. beef tenderloin, trimmed and cut into 1/2

    to 1-inch cubes

    Directions:

In a small bowl, whisk together the horseradish, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, sour cream, salt and black pepper until blended. Refrigerate the horseradish sauce until ready to serve.

In a fondue pot over medium-high heat, warm the oil until it registers 375潞F on a deep-frying thermometer, or until a cube of bread dropped into the oil browns evenly in 20 to 30 seconds.

Using pot holders, carefully place the fondue pot with the hot oil on the stand and keep warm according to the manufacturers instructions. Set the fondue pot on the table.

For each guest, provide a plate of beef, a fondue fork, another plate for eating and a small dish to season the beef before cooking.

Instruct each guest to skewer a piece of beef onto the fondue fork and then season the beef with salt and black pepper. Submerge the beef in the hot oil and cook just until the exterior is golden brown, about 1 minute for rare to medium-rare, 2 to 3 minutes for medium to well-done. (Be sure to remove the beef from the hot fork before eating.) Serve the horseradish sauce alongside. Serves 6.

    How do you make fondue?????

How do you make chocolate and cheese fondue? by the way i dont have a fondue potHow do you make fondue?????
In our family it is the tradition to make a classic Cheese Fondue on Christmas eve:

    chocolate fondue recipe

    * ounces semisweet chocolate

    * 1/2 cup whipping cream

    * 2 teaspoons Kirsch brandy, Grand Marnier or rum, or to taste

If you have a double boiler, melt the whipping cream and chocolate in the top half of the boiler. If not, half-fill a heavy saucepan with water and heat until barely simmering.

Place the chocolate and whipping cream in a metal bowl over the saucepan, making sure the bottom of the bowl doesn't touch the simmering water.

Turn the heat down to low and melt the chocolate with the whipping cream, stirring constantly and making sure the chocolate doesn't burn.

Pour the mixture into a ceramic pot made for dessert fondues and stir in the brandy or rum. Keep warm on low heat.

If you do not have a double boiler then put a metal bowl on top of a pan filled with water.

You can dip: pretzels, fruit, cakes, cookies, candies - anything

    About Fondue

    http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/fondue.htm

    Classic Cheese Fondue

    1 garlic clove, halved crosswise

1 1/2 cups dry white wine

    1 tablespoon cornstarch

    2 teaspoons kirsch (optional)

1/2 lb Emmental cheese, coarsely grated (2 cups)

1/2 lb Gruy猫re, coarsely grated (2 cups)

Rub inside of a 4-quart heavy pot with cut sides of garlic, then discard garlic. Add wine to pot and bring just to a simmer over moderate heat.

Stir together cornstarch and kirsch (if using; otherwise, use water or wine) in a cup.

Gradually add cheese to pot and cook, stirring constantly in a zigzag pattern (not a circular motion) to prevent cheese from balling up, until cheese is just melted and creamy (do not let boil). Stir cornstarch mixture again and stir into fondue. Bring fondue to a simmer and cook, stirring, until thickened, 5 to 8 minutes. Transfer to fondue pot set over a flame.

Good Eats on the Food Network did an episode on fondue. See below for information about the the episode, including the transcript and recipe links. And, no, you don't need a dedicated fondue pot to enjoy fondue!
You need to get a fondue pot. The directions will be inside.

    Coach
Well its a good start to get one. You can go to www.swissmar.com they have some recipes and fondues that you can get. Or just get an idea of what your looking for. I love fondue.
You need a fondue pot. Once you have one...

16-oz. milk chocolate bits or chocolate bars

    1 cup whipping cream unwhipped

    pinch of salt

    2-oz. brandy, optional

There's really no way to do this on the total cheap, but at the end of the day a non-meat entree will prove to be economical anyway.

    Classic Cheese Fondue

1%26amp;1/2 lbs. grated gruyere or good Swiss cheese

1 clove garlic, split in half

1 c. decent dry white wine (sauvignon blanc, cheval blanc - not expensive, but drinkable)

    4 tsp. cornstarch

3 T. kirsch, or other non-sweet cherry liquer (I suppose you could use half cherry schnapps and half brandy if you don't want to invest in kirsch)

salt and white pepper to taste

Rub inside of fondue pot with split garlic clove. Add the cheese, and melt stirring all the time. slowly incorporate white wine until fully absorbed into the cheese. dissolve cornstarch in kirsch, and blend into the cheese mixture, stirring until thickened. Taste for salt and pepper and correct; keep just under bubbling in pot. Serve with cubed French bread (crust on), apple cubes, browned sausage slices, cherry tomatoes, cooked plain artichoke hearts, steamed skin-on potato chunks, whole cooked peeled pearl onions, ham cubes, steamed broccoli spears....this makes an awesome presentation and menu for a dinner party of no more than 6 people. Check out recipes for beef fondue as well; it's not economical, but it's retro, special, very fun, and you can make some delicious dipping sauces for the tenderloin cubes.I have an electric fondue pot...?
hopefully this will work out, quick and easy

    and cheaper ingredients too

Why is my fondue cheese sauce chunky?

Ok so I got a new fondue pot and had to try it out. I tried to do the Fiesta cheese fondue from The Melting Pot but the cheese was not the texture I wanted. They told me to mix flour with the cheese because it helps it melt, but it was just a little off. I don't think I waited long enough for the pot to get hot enough, do you think that was the problem? Why is my fondue cheese sauce chunky?
Try to add the cheese a little at a time, constantly stirring with a fork or a whisk. The high heat may have caused some problems, depending on what kind of cheese it was. Try heating the fondue over medium-low heat next time.
We just melt the cheese with a little cream...you may add other flavors to your cheese sauce also..like dillweed, creamcheese, garlic, tabasco etc.....

I have never added flour and do not see the point. Why is my fondue cheese sauce chunky?
you have to cook flour before you add. just strain the cheese, and reheat.

    Fondue recipes and advice please?

Okay...I'd like to try making fondue for a small group of people. I'm looking for recipes for a really good fondue %26amp; a chocolate fondue for dessert. Also what I should serve with them. What kind of fondue pot should I buy? Any tips you for me? Thanks so much for your helpFondue recipes and advice please?
    Dear Just Me,

I have done this many times and is a lot of fun and delicious.

Purchase a few inexpensive electric pots and peanut oil.

On one platter have chunks of boneless chicken breast, strips of sirloin steak and whole shrimp( decent sized)

On another platter place small canned potatoes, raw onion rings, fresh mushrooms and fresh broccoli florettes.

Heat oil until a drop of water "dances" on it (or follow instructions)

Your guest can place several pieces on their color coded forks and cook away!

I serve a nice salad and fresh bread and butter. Also some dipping sauces such as ranch, bbq, cocktail sauce, horseradish sauce and sweet and sour.

For dessert make a chocolate fondue( usually there is a recipe that comes with the pot) and offer chunks of pound cake, fresh strawberries and pineapple chunks.

Also, flambe the chocolate before the fruit and "toast" marshmallows over the flame that will go out (burn off) in about 1 min. or so.

    Hope you enjoy!
First, to buy it, go to a regular store like Wal-Mart where mine was purchased. The price for the cheaper ones there can range from $20-$50. Any fondue pot will do-but there's usually a candle you place under the pot to make heat, and if you dig down in the fondue too far, you'll get burned and it will leave a huge black charred spot on the rim of the bottom (trust me.) As for recipes, dip crackers, fruit, cookies, or ice cream bars to dip in things such as chocolate, warm icing, or even candy bars. Some come with little trays so after you dip your food into the fondue, you can roll it around in little sprinkles or little gummies or whatever you'd like. :)Fondue recipes and advice please?
Try making a ganache... you heat up some heavy cream (about a cup) in a saucepan on the stove, once it gets warm remove it from the heat and put it in a heat safe bowl, then add a bag of chocolate chips and stir until melted. You can add an extra kick by adding a splash of orange liquor or another flavored liquor. Also adding some vanilla extract and a few drops of coffee will bring out the chocolate flavor. It will turn out to be very shiny, and yummy. You can then transfer it to a fondue pot to keep it warm. Serve with pound cake, oreos, pretzel rods, strawberries, fruit, anythinng that your little heart desires! When your done, store the leftover chocolate in the refrigerator, it will thicken up and it'll be great as a frosting or you can roll it up into little balls and roll them in powdered sugar or cocoa powder in order to make truffles. Good luck and enjoy!!

And do I melt the chocolate before and then pour it into the pot? Or do i melt it in the fondue pot? Is there anything i have to add to the chocolate? Can somebody please give me directions on making Chocolate fondue??
You don't have to have a fondue pot, but it does look nice on the table. If you melt chocolate on the stove, just make sure it is not in a pot directly on the burner. Fill a larger pot about 1/2 full with water then place a smaller pot or stainless steel bowl with the chocolate in it over the larger pot so that it touches the water. Heating over water makes sure that the chocolate won't burn. Add whatever extract you like. I like pure vanilla extract with dark chocolate. A little extract goes a long way. You can dip strawberries, pretzels, sponge cake, marshmallows, or whatever you like.

has anyone dipped salmon chunks in a fondue pot with oil? Otherwise I'll go and get other kinds of meat.We want to fondue on Valentines day, I have salmon in the freezer?
I think Salmon will fall apart, sorry. It is not a firm enough meat. You can always use it as a salmon spread for an appetizer.
Almost. Instead of oil, dip thin slices of salmon or of meat into hot stock and call it shabu shabu. It's the Japanese version of fondue. We want to fondue on Valentines day, I have salmon in the freezer?
    ewwwww
Sounds kind of dry to me....
salmon would probably not be a good choice since it is very fatty already and would probably fall apart on you...stick with lean cuts of meat, stay away from pork and chicken...shrimp would even be good, some people roll cheese cubes in a little milk and flour and make fried cheese...mmmmm...fried cheese.....
2 pounds fresh or frozen salmon, 1 inch thick

Rince %26amp; Drain fish steaks; pat dry. Cut fish into 1 inch pieces. Prepare sauces (below). Cover fish and sauces; refrigerate. About 15 minutes before serving, drain fish again; pat dry to prevent spattering.

In metal fondue pot, heat salad oil (2 inches) to 375 degrees; transfer pot to source of heat at table. Adjust heat when necessary to maintain temperature of oil.

Spear cubes of fish with fondue forks and place in hot oil. Cook fish until light brown. Dip into sauces. 4 servings.

Dill Sauce: Mix sour cream, mayonnaise, dill weed and seasoned salt. 3/4 cup.

Tartar Sauce: Mix mayonnaise, dill pickle, parsley, pimiento and onion. 1/2 cup.

Lemon Butter Sauce: Heat butter or margarine, lemon peel and lemon juice until butter melts. Serve at room temperature. About 3/4 cup.

    Have fun!!
Well, anything is really dip-able in a fondue, I guess, but salmon may fall apart, being fish. Get another type of meat, and maybe some bread as well, because that is one of the main things you dip in fondue.
Hmm. I've never tried it. I don't see why you couldn't try it, but if you don't like it, maybe have some beef on hand.

Just make sure you have the right oil temperature if you're concerned about eating raw or rare fish.

Crock pot. Just plug it in...there ya go!Other ways to keep Fondue hot?
A crock pot would work great. Depending on what you are using - cheese would work well -I think you could still do chocolate....on low - but I don't think it would work for oil.
    Can't be done! Blasphemy!

Cheese fondue must be stirred in a figure-eight with a wooden spoon until it's just thick enough, then brought immediately to the heater-thingy and kept melty through dippage.

And if you mean any other kind of fondue and just called it Fondue--double blasphemy!
Use a crock pot and put it in a insulated lunch box.

First decide what kind of fondu you want to do. Popular are

    Beef

    Cheese

    Chocolate

Then decide what you will be dipping or serving it with.

Using cheese fondue as an example, I like using a combination of Jarlsburg and Gruyere cheese and a dry white wine for the fondu mixture. For dipping, I like a crusty french or italian loaf of bread

Can I make chocolate fondue ahead of time?

I'm making chocolate fondue for my french class. Can I make the sauce the night before, cover it and leave it out at room temperature overnight, and then reheat it in a fondue pot when I get to school? Can I make chocolate fondue ahead of time?
An Easy Make-Ahead Fondue Recipe Idea:

    Gather these ingredients first:

3/4 cup heavy whipping cream, reserve 1/4 cup to thin if fondue begins to thicken

4 bittersweet chocolate bars, chopped, 3 1/2 ounces each

2 tablespoons Frangelico or Amaretto liqueur, optional

1/4 cup finely chopped hazelnuts or almonds, optional

    For garnishing a chocolate fondue:

    Hazelnut or almond biscotti

    Salted pretzel sticks

    Cubed pound cake

    Sliced bananas

    Stem strawberries

    Sectioned navel oranges

    Ripe fresh diced pineapple

Procedure: Heat 1/2 cup cream in a heavy non-reactive saucepot over moderate heat until cream comes to a low boil. Keep stirring the cream to prevent burns at the bottom of the pan. Remove the pan from heat and add chocolate. Let the chocolate stand in hot cream for 3 to 5 minutes until it begins to melt. Then whisk the chocolate together with the cream until a smooth consistency is reached. Stir in the liqueur and chopped nuts and transfer the mix into a fondue pot. Set the mixing bowl on a rack above a small lit candle. For a dramatic touch take help of a fondue fountain apparatus that has a spout to issue forth the luxurious chocolate. Reserve some cream for later additions in case the liquid thickens up.

Arrange your favorite dippables in piles on a platter alongside chocolate fondue with fondue forks, bamboo skewers or sea food forks as utensils for dipping.

This recipe yields four to six servings.

For a more decadent variety of fondue try this recipe. This is again an easy-to-prepare fondue except it does not involve liqueur and is suited for tots at your party.

    Chocolate-Almond Pudding Fondue:

    Ingredients:

    1/4 cup sugar

    2 tablespoons cornstarch

    2 cups milk

    5 ounces milk chocolate chips

    1 egg yolk, beaten

    1/2 teaspoon almond extract

    Fresh strawberries

    Pound cake pieces, for garnish

    Cheesecake pieces, for garnish

    Cookies, for garnishing

Procedure: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar and cornstarch. Slowly add the milk whisking until combined. Cook until the mixture boils and starts to thicken. Stir in the chocolate. Temper the egg yolk with some of the chocolate mixture and whisk briskly to prevent scrambling of eggs. Then pour the egg-chocolate mix into the saucepan. Cook and stir until thick and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the almond extract. Transfer to the fondue pot and serve it with pound cake chunks, cheesecake chunks and cookies.

Fondue Cooking and serving Tips for a Foolproof Fondue Party:

鈥?Serve fondue food in bite size pieces so that they may be easily skewered or be held for hand-dipping.

鈥?Use the right fondue pot as those in ceramic which is an ideal match for chocolate or other variants of dessert fondues.

鈥?Chocolate being the primary ingredient for fondues one must be discreet and discerning in the choice of chocolates used for the purpose. Hershey s, Valhrona, Tobler, Lindt, and Callebaut are some of the recommended varieties of chocolates.

鈥?Cook fondue separately on the stovetop and then serve it in the pot. Do not cook fondue in the pot itself.

鈥?Keep the fondue pot no more than one-third to one-half filled with the chocolate.

鈥?Fondue liquids need to be warm and not boiling. Keep the chocolate warm at a low temperature. 120 degrees F is an ambient temperature for dessert fondues.

鈥?Be mindful of proper sanitation around fondues. Keep buffer reserve of skewers and fondue forks so that guests may not be tempted to dabble their fingers into the fondue. Remember it is a communal pot and hygiene is pivotal.

Setting an Ambience for an Enjoyable Fondue Exeperience:

鈥?Keep several fondue pots depending on the number of invitees. Most pots can accommodate six dippers. Keep extra pots if you are serving different types of dessert fondue.

鈥?Sheath your table with an easy-to-wipe cloth for easy cleaning. Fondues can get messy as food bites are carried from the pot to the plate.

鈥?Serve guests with individual bowls for ease of handling food.

鈥?Wine or beer is often served as accompaniments to a dessert fondue.

鈥?Light a fire in your fireplace to give a cozy ambience and Swiss music at the background for a completely relaxing experience.

Fondues until sometime back was held as an anachronism. Most Americans thrust entertaining with fondue as a regressive idea, thinking it as an old-timer. Undoubtedly the historical roots of this recipe hark back to eighteenth century Switzerland from where it first originated. Deriving from the French verb fondre , meaning "to melt," fondue was a classic peasant dish. It received several makeovers as time flew and now fondue is back as the most unassuming fashion-statement in the culinary industry. It has come to be a retro-rage and the new buzz word for interactive dining at its best. With precedents to evince the comeback of fondues it is time to shed all cynicism if any, for this time-tested treat. Try theCan I make chocolate fondue ahead of time?
