Fondue recipes and advice please?

Okay...I'd like to try making fondue for a small group of people. I'm looking for recipes for a really good fondue %26amp; a chocolate fondue for dessert. Also what I should serve with them.What kind of fondue pot should I buy? Any tips you for me? Thanks so much for your helpFondue recipes and advice please?

I have done this many times and is a lot of fun and delicious.

Purchase a few inexpensive electric pots and peanut oil.

On one platter have chunks of boneless chicken breast, strips of sirloin steak and whole shrimp( decent sized)

On another platter place small canned potatoes, raw onion rings, fresh mushrooms and fresh broccoli florettes.

Heat oil until a drop of water "dances" on it (or follow instructions)

Your guest can place several pieces on their color coded forks and cook away!

I serve a nice salad and fresh bread and butter. Also some dipping sauces such as ranch, bbq, cocktail sauce, horseradish sauce and sweet and sour.

For dessert make a chocolate fondue( usually there is a recipe that comes with the pot) and offer chunks of pound cake, fresh strawberries and pineapple chunks.

Also, flambe the chocolate before the fruit and "toast" marshmallows over the flame that will go out (burn off) in about 1 min. or so.

First, to buy it, go to a regular store like Wal-Mart where mine was purchased. The price for the cheaper ones there can range from $20-$50. Any fondue pot will do-but there's usually a candle you place under the pot to make heat, and if you dig down in the fondue too far, you'll get burned and it will leave a huge black charred spot on the rim of the bottom (trust me.) As for recipes, dip crackers, fruit, cookies, or ice cream bars to dip in things such as chocolate, warm icing, or even candy bars. Some come with little trays so after you dip your food into the fondue, you can roll it around in little sprinkles or little gummies or whatever you'd like. :)Fondue recipes and advice please?
Try making a ganache... you heat up some heavy cream (about a cup) in a saucepan on the stove, once it gets warm remove it from the heat and put it in a heat safe bowl, then add a bag of chocolate chips and stir until melted. You can add an extra kick by adding a splash of orange liquor or another flavored liquor. Also adding some vanilla extract and a few drops of coffee will bring out the chocolate flavor. It will turn out to be very shiny, and yummy. You can then transfer it to a fondue pot to keep it warm. Serve with pound cake, oreos, pretzel rods,strawberries, fruit, anythinng that your little heart desires! When your done, store the leftover chocolate in the refrigerator, it will thicken up and it'll be great as a frosting or you can roll it up into little balls and roll them in powdered sugar or cocoa powder in order to make truffles. VANILLA FOUNUE basic recipe



1 cup cold milk 1/3 cup sugar 1 c soft bread crumbs

1 tablespoon butter

1/2 t salt

3 eggs ---seperated

1 t vanilla

scald the milk in a double boiler

add the sugar stirring all time add bread crumbs cubes the butter and salt-- COOL --and add egg yolks and vanilla fold in stiffly beaten egg whites

turn into a baking dish greased on the bottom only set it in a pan of hot water

bake it at 350 until the knief comes out clean about 50 to 60 min# serves about 6



cho mealt the 2 squares of cho3 to the milk beat until well blended use only 1/2 vanilla



date increase the sugar to 1/3 c add 1 c pitted dates befor adding the egg white use 1/2 t vanilla



vanilla fruit fondue add 1 c well drain fruit just befor folding the egg whites
mine was purchased at value city, like a walmart or kmart, they run $25- a whole lot more.

you can get electric or tea light/burner ones.

mine uses a sterno light



Fondue



1 4-ounce package sweet baking chocolate, broken up

4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped

2/3 cup light cream or milk

1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar

1 teaspoon instant coffee crystals

2 tablespoons coffee liqueur

Assorted fruits (such as star fruit slices, pineapple chunks, kiwi fruit wedges, strawberries, pear slices, banana slices)

Meringue cookies



1. In a heavy saucepan combine chocolates, cream, sugar, and coffee crystals. Heat and stir over low heat until melted and smooth. Remove from heat; stir in liqueur. Pour into a fondue pot; keep warm over low heat.

Serve with fruit and cookies. Makes 6 to 8 servings.



omit the coffee if not a fan



crab fondue



5 ounces Kraft Old English Sharp Cheese Spread

8 ounces cream cheese

7 1/2 ounces canned crab meat

1/4 cup light cream (half %26amp; half)

1/4 teaspoon garlic salt

1/2 Worcestershire sauce

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper





Directions:



In a double boiler, place cheese spread and cream cheese and stir until smooth. Add remainder of ingredients, heat, stirring constantly until thoroughly blended. If too thick, add half %26amp; half, continue stirring until smooth and hot. Place in a fondue pot, keep hot and serve with chunks of French bread on fondue forks.





if you really like the fondue, i suggest going to ebay and searching ebooks for fondue recipes. there is a seller called sweet tooth's express... they have a few hundred recipes for under a buck!!!
