What kind of meats go well in a cheese fondue? What else besides bread would you suggest?

I am new to fondues and we just bought a fondue pot. We are making a three cheese fondue and would like to know what goes well with it as far as meats and vegetables. What do you suggest and what have you done that worked well? What kind of meats go well in a cheese fondue? What else besides bread would you suggest?
Cheese fondue is usually served with cut-up cubes of hearty breads, the type of bread depends upon the cheese in the fondue, but a good French bread works with any type of cheese fondue. Try a rye or marble bread with a cheddar cheese fondue for a different flavor combination.

In addition to bread for dipping in the cheese you could try wedges of apple, slices of pear, grapes, steamed vegetables like broccoli or cauliflower, steamed asparagus spears, even pre-cooked baby potatoes.

Remember the cheese will not cook anything, unlike oil fondue where you cook the meat in boiling oil. So if you want to use meat with your cheese fondue make sure it is pre-cooked. Beef goes well with a cheddar cheese or Gouda where chicken cubes go best with fondues containing a lot of white cheeses like Gruyere, Swiss, smoked Gouda and the like. You can also cut up "sea legs" (the fake crab stuff) for dipping in your fondue!
Bite-size pieces of focaccia, sliced salami, fresh fennel, Belgian endive, steamed broccoli florets and asparagus spears...What kind of meats go well in a cheese fondue? What else besides bread would you suggest?
How about chicken, ham, pork, crackers, look in the recipe book if the pot came with one.
As far as meats go, I would stick with chicken. Fish would be nasty, of course...beef may work, but chickens definitely a safe bet. For veggies, Asparagus might taste good, broccoli, cauliflower, maybe some sliced bell peppers.
Hopefully your fondue pot came with a little cook book or something. If not, get one. Raw meats need to be cooked in a broth or oil fondue, not cheese. Filet, chicken, shrimp, all good, just depends on your taste. If you really want to have a full fondue dinner, your best bet is to have 2 pots.

Start with cheese for appetizers

Then the other pot is liquid based to cook meats/vegeys

Then clean the cheese one and fill with a chocolate fondue for dessert and dip pound cake, cookies, berries, etc.

Fondue is awesome, have fun.
