A fondue pot good for melting caramel for caramel apples?

I know a fondue pot is designed for obviously fondue, but would it work as a caramel apple dipper?A fondue pot good for melting caramel for caramel apples?
An electric fondue pot would work. You can set it to a specific temperature, and they get very hot (up to 400 F), more than hot enough to melt caramel. Mine heats very evenly. The link is for the one I own.

A sterno or candle heated fondue pot probably wouldn't heat evenly or hot enough.A fondue pot good for melting caramel for caramel apples?
It does not get the caramel hot enough to melt the caramel. I don't think it would hold it at a warm enough temperature to keep is soft enough to dip in. Caramel is simply sugar and heavy cream. That's it. It melts at a much higher temperature than say, chocolate or cheese, 2 of the most common dipping sauces for fondue.
