Fondue is very tough to make properly at home even with the correct pot. It would seem as easy as melting cheese, but believe me, you can get some real problems without lots of practice and knowing what seasonings to use. I recommend skipping buying a pot for home use and attending to dinner at The Melting Pot.

It's not so much of a brand as the materials. Look for something that has a fairly heavy bottom so it won't scorch your cheese or chocolate, and if it's made out of either stainless steel or enameled cast iron it will be able to withstand high heat for oil fondue. If you're looking for a one-size-fits-all number, be sure it has a splatter guard if the opening is wide!
