You should only use the meat fondue pot for oil/broth. The cheese would burn and stick to the cast iron type pots. Cheese (and chocolate) fondues should be in glazed pots (ceramic or cast iron will work) for easy cleaning. The cast iron hold the heat longer to keep the cheese easy to dip, but the ceramic work pretty well and are less expensive.
There is a company called Swissmar which has wonderful fondue and raclette accessories. You can check them out at www.swissmar.com
If you can put oil in there safely , I think you will be fine with Cheese and Chocolate too :)Can you put cheese fondue in a meat fondue pot?
Well, it wouldn't hurt the people eating it, but if it's not teflon-coated or ceramic, I wouldn't. Cheese is a pain to clean up if it burns.
