What can I cook shrimp and steak in in the fondue pot?

I want shrimp and steak tonight for dinner and I wanna cook it in the fondue pot. What type of broth or cooking liquid could I use in the pot to cook them flavor-wise?What can I cook shrimp and steak in in the fondue pot?
If you must use broth instead of oil for deepfrying. Then just use your favorite kind of broth. The liquid MUST be at a rolling boil, not just below a simmer as another poster suggested. If it's below a rolling boil, that is going to be one looooong fondue, I assure you. I go to a chinese restaurant that offers a fondue option and this is how they do it and it STILL takes a while for stuff to cook.

** Hey Chris I guess you were right about yahoo siding with the trolls and morons. You are NOT correct though in saying sugarpie is right on the money. If the broth is not at a rolling boil, they'll be having their fondue for two days... I'm speaking from experience here.

Some simple chemistry, an oil fondue is typically 350 degrees, very hot and short cooking time. In a fondue with broth, best case scenario is 212 degrees...boiling point of water, If you have a good enough heat source to keep it at a rolling boil, it will cook at 212 degrees, if you use a heat source that keeps it just under boiling, adding a few pieces of cold meat will drop the temperature significantly and it will take a long time to come back up to temperature which is only 212 at best. I know what I'm talking about here and a hot plate is the best heat source.. sign me, beentheredonethat
Cut steak into very thin strips. Shrimp is probably fine as-is, just peel adn devein.

When I fondue, I generally prefer oil for frying, and a tempura batter. If you do broth, I'd suggest a flavorful vegetable broth that woudl compliment both beef and shrimp flavors. It shoudl be near-boiling and that usually means sterno or canned fuel, NOT a candle. What can I cook shrimp and steak in in the fondue pot?
Go to www.bestfondue.com, they have all different types of broth recipes to compliment what you are cooking.
Duke, go with Sugar Pie, she is right on the money with her answer. You can also buy fondue steak cut for that prime purpose.
